SALINE BREAST IMPLANTS

Saline breast implant is one of the most common forms of breast implants being opted by women going for breast augmentation. With an exterior sack made of solid silicone, saline breast implant is filled with sterile saline solution but it offers advantage in the form of safety. In case the saline breast implant leaks for some reason or the other, it gets absorbed by the body as would intravenous fluids in any form of surgery.

The good thing about saline breast implants is that it leads to very low infection rate which is generally 1-2% of all the cases. Since it is filled with fluids after insertion it leads to small incision. This is very much in contrast to silicone implants which are pre filled. The good thing about saline breast implants is that they are filled after insertion in which case the volume can be adjusted which makes it pretty easier to correct it for existing breast asymmetry. Also with no restrictions on the use of silicone implants women are not required to enter any kind of specific national breast study to be eligible for implantation.

Even widespread reports that saline filled implants can lead to fungal contamination was discredited when Canadian laboratory releasing this finding relied on implants which had been mailed therefore there was no guarantee of sterility in case of transportation of these implants.
